The Presentation Brothers in Ireland have invited the National Board for the Safeguarding of Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCCI) to review the safeguarding practices of the Presentation Brothers.
The review will take place in January 2014.
The National Board is currently reviewing the safeguarding practices of each diocese and religious congregation in Ireland. Sixteen dioceses and four religious congregations/missionary societies have been reviewed to date.
Any survivors of abuse who have not yet come forward are encouraged to do so by making contact with either our Designated Officer, Ms Jenny Rice (086-3932685 or email@example.com) or to the Garda Síochána (01-6663435)/HSE (1850 24 1850) in the Republic of Ireland or the PSNI (0845 600 800)/HSC (028 9031 1611) in Northern Ireland. New allegations of abuse should be made directly to the Statutory Authorities.
If a survivor contacts the National Board (NBSCCCI, 01-5053124) the Presentation Brothers will be advised in writing of this contact.
If the survivor is making a new allegation the National Board (NBSCCCI) will inform the civil authorities and the Presentation Brothers in writing and will ensure that counselling through Towards Healing (1800 303 416 from Republic of Ireland, 0800 096 3315 from Northern Ireland) is offered.
An "internal" instruction will be given to all "reviewers" on this as complying with best practice and the requirement that a detailed contemporaneous note of any conversations is made.
The Review report will reference that survivors did contact the National Board (NBSCCCI) and an overview of their comments will be inserted into the report. No identifying information will be given in the report.
A detailed report of the comments will be given in a separate document to the Congregation.
